Pastime Puzzles of Jane Phillips Display at Frank Phillips Home

Posted: September 02, 2020

[BARTLESVILLE, OK, September 2, 2020] The Frank Phillips Home is proud to display our collection of Pastime Puzzles, owned by Jane Phillips.

“One of Jane’s favorite pastimes was completing jigsaw puzzles, and we are lucky to have her collection of completed puzzles as part of our collection,” said Bob Fraser, CEO of the Frank Phillips Foundation. What makes these jigsaw puzzles so unique is that they were all hand cut, making each puzzle one-of-a-kind. What also sets them apart from modern day puzzles is that many of the pieces are shaped like recognizable objects such as silhouettes of animals, flowers, letters, numbers and geometric shapes. “We have 25 puzzles on display in our exhibit, and we always have one on display in the sunroom during our regular tours. The content ranges from landscapes, to historical moments, and even a cat circus,” said Michelle Swaney, Frank Phillips Home Director.

Guests may visit during normal operating hours, Wednesday – Saturday in September and October and are reminded that all staff, docents, and guests are required to wear masks. 25 puzzles are on display upstairs in the Interpretive Center during regular tour hours, or can be seen during the Director’s Tour. Puzzle tours are $5 each, or guests can purchase a house tour and a puzzle tour for $10. Members of the Frank Phillips Home are free.
