OK Mozart Festival Celebrating Classical & Contemporary Music

Thursday, June 08, 2017

to Friday, June 16, 2017

The nine-day festival, planned June 8-16, kicks off Thursday evening with a street concert featuring the 145th Army Band, followed by western blues band Honey Blue. This event is free to the public. Later that evening, "High Stakes" cowboy crooner Michael Martin Murphey performs at the Bartlesville Community Center accompanied by the world-class Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra.

On June 9, the harmony-rich sound of Wilson Phillips, a vocal trio comprised of sisters Carnie and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips, comes to the BCC. Classically trained, golden-voiced Chris Mann, who starred in "The Phantom of the Opera" in its recent tour, takes to the BCC stage on June 10 accompanied by the Bartlesville Symphony.

On the afternoon of June 11, the festival is honored to present the world premier of composer Jerod Tate's Muscogee Hymn Suite, commissioned and performed by the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. That evening, enjoy a Concert Under the Stars with entertainment by jazz band Mojo at Sooner Park.

Chamber music, always popular with OK Mozart fans, will be held June 12-15 in Ambler Hall, featuring the exciting Miró Quartet, and Oklahoma’s own Brightmusic Society with Trio Solari. The world premiere of the Joseph F. Tyldesley composition, "Homage to Haydn," will be performed by the Trio, who also commissioned the piece.

On June 13, hear the inspirational Burchfield Brothers perform at First Baptist Church.

Then on June 16, head out to Woolaroc and enjoy Disney classics performed by the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, followed by fireworks over the lake.

A full spectrum of Showcase events is planned, including children’s activities. Enjoy folk and jazz entertainment at the Price Tower, and a tribute to Gershwin by Those 2!, among others.

There is plenty more on tap, and tickets will be offered starting April 10 through the Bartlesville Community Center, www.bartlesvillecommunitycenter.com.

Held every year in June, the OK Mozart International Festival celebrates classical as well as contemporary music, along with showcase events that feature local points of interest, additional music venues, children’s activities and more.
