Theater Bartlesville announces 2018 – 2019 Season!

In its’ 93rd year in the city, the doors of Theater Bartlesville will open once again in August when work will begin on the season’s first production, A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room.  Gurney, a popular and iconic playwright, wrote penetratingly witty studies of American families and traditions, and his many plays and novels include The Cocktail Hour, Sylvia, and  Love Letters, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.  In 2016, The Obie Awards presented A.R. Gurney with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Dining Room by A.R. Gurney, Directed by Shelby Brammer

Set entirely inside a dining room, this show is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes taking place over different years, and different eras, the actors changing personalities and ages to portray a vast array of characters. The New York Post raves that The Dining Room is “hilarious and touching...as comic sketch crazily succeeds comic sketch a whole pattern of American life emerges...”


September 20th – 22nd at 7pm, September 23rd at 2pm.

 

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer & Jess Winfield, Directed by Andy Dossett

In a newly updated version of this popular show, three actors perform all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays (plus some sonnets). Fast paced, witty, physical and full of laughter—for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike. This world-wide phenomenon has earned the title of London’s longest-running comedy after a decade at the Criterion Theatre. It is now one of the world’s most frequently produced plays.

Please note:  Opening night will be a special Fundraiser Event with food, drink and silent auction.

Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood by Ken Ludwig, Directed by Shelby Brammer

Originally created for The Old Globe Theater in San Diego, and fashioned with a new take on the popular legend, it’s both a romp full of swashbuckling fun and romance, and a moving tale of a young man’s discovery of his responsibility towards his fellow man, as he becomes a hero who takes on the powers that be. Featuring great characters like Little John, Friar Tuck, Maid Marian, the Sheriff of Nottingham, and Robin Hood!


Dates: March 7th – 9th at 7pm, March 10th at 2pm.
