Price Tower EGGstravaganza Over Easy

Posted: May 23, 2013

(Bartlesville, Okla.)  Design. Create. Drop. Price Tower Arts Center, located at 510 Dewey Avenue , is hosting its free 5th Annual EGGstravaganza on June 15 from 10am to 12pm. The challenge is for an individual or team to design a structure that will protect an egg during its drop from the 10th floor balcony of Price Tower.

“This will not be an easy task as they will need to hit the target on the ground and keep their egg from breaking,” said Lori Esser, marketing and development director.  “This is a fun family event for all ages and a great way for you to find your inner child.”

There are three categories in the competition:  youth 12 and under; teens and adults 13 and older and teams (such as families, corporate teams or church groups).  Unbroken eggs closest to the target on the ground will be the winners.

Several prizes will be awarded in each category. Each category First Place winner will receive a $25 Visa Gift Card. Overall Best Design winner will receive a Price Tower Arts Center basket valued over $100. Another basket of goodies will be given to the winner of the Biggest Splat. The overall Grand Prize winner will receive a Kindle Fire.

Each structure should be built by the participants at home before the competition begins. An egg is provided for each entry. The structure that holds the egg can be no larger than one square foot. Teams will choose one team member to be their “dropper.” No food may be used in the construction.  Balloons may be used but must not exceed the size limitation and must not contain helium.  Each participant must be registered, checked in and wearing a name tag.  Complete rules are posted on Price Tower’s website www.pricetower.org or can be picked up in-person at Price Tower Arts Center’s front desk.

Participants can pre-register in-person now at Price Tower Arts Center or by phone at 918.336.4949. Pre-registration is highly encouraged. If you wish to register the day of the event, you will need to arrive no later than 9:30 am.  Young children (ages 5-7) will need to be accompanied by an adult when they drop their egg from the balcony.

“The EGGstravaganza is a program that encourages creativity, imagination and problem solving.  We are so excited to host this event each year. It is by far, one of our favorites,” said Tim Boruff, executive director.

Presenting sponsor for the EGGstravaganza is Osage Casino. Egg sponsor is Eggbert’s. Price Tower Arts Center also thanks Charlie Taraboletti, of Bartlesville Radio, for emceeing the event and Bartlesville Fire Department for their assistance in safety.

Completed in 1956, the tower was designed to be a multifaceted building with living, dining, shopping and work spaces.  The top three floors were restored to their original interior specifications and can be viewed on a guided tour.  Price Tower Arts Center, through its generous donors, has been able to return the historic building to its multipurpose origination where it now houses a boutique hotel, bar and museum.
