OKM Music’s Concert Under the Stars to feature Sons of Serendip

Posted: April 19, 2018

When the warm breezes of summer roll in, the 2018 OKM Music Festival, slated June 9-15, will bring a variety of music styles to Bartlesville. On Sunday, June 10, festivalgoers can enjoy a Concert under the Stars featuring the Sons of Serendip, a jazzy-pop musical group of four friends who came together in graduate school at Boston University.

The group comprises former teacher Micah Christian, the lead vocalist; former attorney Cordaro Rodriguez, pianist and guitarist; former cello instructor Kendall Ramseur, cellist and vocalist; and former teacher Mason Morton, harpist.

Christian said, "The OKM Music Festival will be our first ever performance in Oklahoma! We'll be sharing fresh and creative interpretations of popular music, alongside fun stories about our journey. We can't wait to join you all and add our piece into what will be a beautiful celebration of the arts!"

Although they all played instruments as a hobby while growing up, it was not until 2014 they decided to pursue music full time "that touches people’s hearts."

Those who watch "America’s Got Talent" may remember Sons of Serendip as finalists on season 9. Since then they have produced three albums and two singles; the most current album is "Life & Love." They just completed a spring tour beginning March 3 in Needham, Mass., and finishing April 14 in Kilmarnock, Vir.

Concert Under the Stars will be held June 10 at Sooner Park in Bartlesville, Okla. The gates open at 5 p.m. Enjoy a variety of food options as well as a wine and beer garden. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and relax under the stars to soothing renditions of popular music! Tickets are $10 for general admission (children 6 and under free) and $35 for VIP tickets, which adds reserved parking, seating and Meet-and-Greet.

Westside children’s programs benefit from the event, and the Sons of Serendip will present a closed question-and-answer concert to a group of westside youth.

OKM Music is 34-years-old this season and proud to offer this special celebration from June 9-15. Besides the Sons of Serendip, OKM Music hosts a three-band Country Fest, Miró String Quartet, pianist Katie Mahan, wind quintet WindSync, plus the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. Several free Showcase concerts and plenty of children’s activities round out the festival offerings. Concert prices range form $10 to $30 for general admission and $60 to $75 for VIP tickets.
