Dewey Western Heritage Weekend

Dewey's Western Heritage Weekend celebrates Oklahoma's early beginnings with lots of activities. The Tom Mix Festival starts on Saturday Sept. 28 at 8:00 am with a Miles for Mammogram 5k run and 2K fun walk. Other events for the day will include a parade starting at 12 noon, almost everything except the vendors are free. Activities include music, parade, kid’s parade with prizes, kids games, gunfights, saloon girls (also family friendly), stick horse rodeo and much more. The day ends that evening with Team Rouse title match/street fight at 5 pm right on main streetjust like in the early days of the Dewey Roundup. Tickets for this event are $15.


On Sunday the fun moves to Prairie Song, the best kept secret in all of Oklahoma. Prairie Song is a recreated 1890's pioneer town built with the old methods and materials, this is the last year this event will be held at this location. Stroll around the village and visit the buildings full of 19th century furnishings and equipment, have lunch at one of the food vendors, and shop the visiting merchants. Then finish the day with a real live Wild West Show! Show starts at 1 pm to 4 pm ticket for this event are $10 children 6 & under free, come early for Cowboy Church starting at 10 am. Activities for this two-day event include live bands, trick roping, trick riding, skill shooting, Western games for children and plenty of food vendors.


*Saturday events are free. Except the street fight featuring Team Rouse Title Match/Street Fight at 5 pm tickets are $15.

*Admission for Sunday is $10, children 6 & under free. Contact the Tom Mix Museum for tickets. 918-534-1555, open Tues-Sat 10 am to 4:30 pm.

*Starting off the festival will be "Miles for Mammograms" 5K and 2K Fun Walk starting at 9 am
