Bartlesville Symphony Season Finale Concert Goes Back to the 80s

Posted: April 22, 2019

In the final concert of an amazing season, the Bartlesville Symphony goes back to the era of big hair, big shoulder pads and big musical hits. On Saturday, May 4, the exciting 8-member band Jeans ‘n Classics joins with the symphony to rock out with “I Love the 80s.” This full evening of favorite hits from that memorable decade begins at 8 pm.

With nearly 1,000 original rock and pop orchestrations utilized in 45 unique and exciting productions, Jeans ‘n Classics faithfully interprets the music of legendary rock and pop albums and artists, with full orchestral accompaniment. On Saturday, their musical line up will include songs from U2, Queen, Cindy Lauper, Journey, Tears for Fears and more!

Hailing from Canada, the band is no stranger to Bartlesville—having played with the BSO three previous times, featuring music of The Beatles, Elton John, and Symphonic Rock. Jeans ‘n Classics are committed to the building of younger, loyal symphony audiences and have performed with over 100 symphony orchestras across North America.

“We love to break out of the classical mold on occasion,” commented BSO conductor Lauren Green. “These guys never fail to bring great music to our stage and put on a exciting show. This is going to be fantastic fun!”

Concert tickets are on sale at the BCC box office, calling 918-336-2787 or by visiting: https://www.bartlesvillecommunitycenter.com/

Season sponsors include Silas Foundation, Oklahoma Arts Council, Truity Credit Union, Jim Moore State Farm Insurance, Danielle Weaver State Farm Insurance, Ernst & Young, Bartlesville Rotary Club #2476, KKI, Phillips 66, and Conoco Phillips.

Additionally, the “I Love the 80s” Concert will be preceded by the symphony’s annual fundraiser. This year the BSO is hosting a 1980s Prom—complete with 80s music, an 80s food buffet, coronation of a Prom King and Queen, Prom pictures, and silent and live auctions. Admission tickets to the prom will include all the evening’s festivities, plus the fun concert that follows.

The fundraiser will be emceed by the symphony’s own Principal Trumpet, Stephen Goforth. Tickets for the 80s Fundraising Prom can be purchased at www.bsook.org. A full evening of 1980s revelry and music is in store!
