Bartlesville Roundup Club Annual Rodeo

In 1941 several businessmen from Bartlesville bought 48 acres right outside of Bartlesville in Osage County off Hwy 60.  The money came from personal contributions as well as contributions from some corporations in the Bartlesville area.  Some of these men included Mr. May (May Brothers), Mr. Roy Hughes (Car Dealer), Mr. Orson Webb, Mr. Cooley Vincent (Phillips Petroleum), Mr. Mort Murray, Mr. Clay Briggs (City Service), Mr. Gerald Nutter (Druggist), Mr. Orville Guinn, (Feed Dealer).

The Roundup Club members were always very active in local events, such as parades, Cavalcade, and Roping.  The same is true for today.  Back in those times the club put on a lot of roping’s, as they do now, however, back then the stock charge (cattle charge) was $.25 per run, now the same run is between $15-$30, pending on the caliber of event you are having.

The Roundup Club was very proud of their new concession, bathrooms, and bleachers in 1988.  The original concession was from the back of a pickup truck in the ‘40’s.  The last new arena that we have today was built in 1990, and 1991.  There had been several before that.

When the Roundup Club bought the land from Mr. Beumeler, it was stated that the land can never be sold as long as the grass grows, the water flows, and the wind blows, and there is at least one club member, there will always be a Bartlesville Roundup Club.
